I have been spending alot of time in a wood in Mid-Lothian, experiencing the place as it changes through the seasons, getting acquainted with the flora, feeling personal with particular trees, learning the layout of badger and deer paths, listening to the sounds and signs of the wood - all this is feeding the work. Above is the first finished painting and below a few field sketches
