I began a series of paintings representing the visitors to my bird table. As the year changes, so does the mix of visitors. My meditation on them also changes and develops. Watching their fleeting visits I am discovering their characters, their beauty, frailty and mortality, their strength and tenacity, their innate knowledge of survival, and how to achieve it, giving me a wonder that, in terms of painting, taxes me to the limit as to how to portray all of this.
